Sightseeing

The Grand Canyon is on almost everyone's bucket list! In 2018 the park had over 6.3 million visitors! I recommend starting off by driving to the east entrance on Highway 64 to the Desert View Watch Tower and Desert View Drive. If you plan to go to the south entrance near the visitor center, I recommend arriving before 9:00 a.m. during peak season to find a parking spot. Otherwise, you may have to park in Tusayan and take the shuttle bus to the park. Please note the park shuttle bus does not go to the east side of the park along the Desert View Drive or Desert View Watch Tower. The Grand Canyon Railway, located in Williams does daily trips to the Grand Canyon. Reservations are required. The park has a variety of places to eat including picnic areas, cafés, a deli, several restaurants and a store. There are a few restaurants in Tusayan, historic Williams on Route 66 and a few fast-food restaurants in Cameron. Otherwise, your best choice and options will be to dine in Flagstaff. For maps and full park details download the new Grand Canyon National Park App on your Android or I-phone! *Download the Grand Canyon App on your Android or Iphone for complete park information including maps.

Known for its beautiful red rocks, trails and shops, Sedona is a major destination for hiking, biking and sight-seeing. Like the Grand Canyon, Sedona is very popular - especially during the weekends and can be quite busy, so I recommend scheduling trips to Sedona during the morning weekdays. For the full effect I recommend driving Highway 89A south of Flagstaff down through Oak Creek Canyon where there are many picnic areas, state parks, trails and look-out points along the way. Before descending the Highway 89 switchbacks into the Canyon there is a lookout point where you can overlook Oak Creek Canyon. There are also many local Native American arts and crafts for sale.
