For a small town Powell River is blessed with some amazing eateries and an abundance of choices. If you've been here before chances are you've already sampled some if not all of these favourites. Starting with places for breakfast to lunch and dinner, taking you to Westview, Cranberry, Townsite, Wildwood and Lund you're sure to find something you like on this list!
Best coffee in town.... no contest, great baking too. A cool, hip vibe with local music and art changed regularly. The food is lovely, try our favourites the Curried Tofu Scramble (vegan) or The Eldred: a Prosciutto, fig jam, goat cheese, caramelized onions grilled sandwich to die for. Meet some of the locals and check out the awesome tile work around the bathroom sink, done by my friend, amazing artist Pierre :)

Base Camp Coffee

A little diner on the way to Townsite by way of Cranberry. This is what breakfast at your grandma's tasted like. Homemade and sooooo good! The decor is quirky and fun, like stepping back in time to a 50's diner with a long soda bar at the front serving banana splits, milkshakes, floats, and sundaes; brightly painted walls, wood floors, and tables in various shapes and sizes. Try the Big Ukranian for a plate piled high with Ukrainian sausage, bacon, pierogis, eggs, hash-browns, toast, sour cream, & grilled onions. They also have excellent pancakes, waffles or french toast.

Eggs are fresh, organic, free-range and local. All meats are hormone and steroid-free, they cold- smoke their own wild salmon and make their own jam. Try the Tacos Del Mar: Baja Style battered local ling cod or grilled prawn, cabbage, avocado mousse, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, & fresh lime or for something more spicy the Maverick: marinated flank steak, Mexican chorizo, crispy bacon, chipotle potatoes, caramelized onion, fresh guacamole, & crema. Finish off with the best Key Lime Pie I have had outside of Key West (where I lived for 10 years) I kid you not!

My friend Jean-Francois can often be found in the small open kitchen. Say hello and try his Wild Mushroom Ravioli with beurre blanc, wild mushroom and ricotta, truffle, pine nuts, & grana padano with an Endive & Fennel Salad: Green apple, dates, shaved onion, pine nuts, orange, capers, radish, fresh dill, & garlic anchovy dressing. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the exquisite smells of Indian cooking coming from the open kitchen, located in a renovated little bungalow the place has several small rooms making the venue quite intimate. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and superior service what more could you want!

Chef Roy is a delight and often sends out the most delicious Amuse Bouche. Try his Pernot Mussels or fab Seafood chowder along with a glass of townsite beer on the deck watching the sun set. First an all organic grocery store with an amazing bulk section and some lovely locally crafted gifts, the 7 Sprouts Plant Based Deli which offers a wide range of tasty “meats” and “cheeses” that are healthy and don’t skimp on flavour. And best of all, Wild Scoops a homemade artisanal ice cream stand with hand rolled waffle cones, vegan & gluten free options as well as kombucha floats, ice cream sandwiches and pints to take home!

Recipient of multiple awards Cédric loves experimenting with many different varieties of ingredients and strains of yeast which are showcased in their diverse line up. Some of which you can drink year round or on a seasonal basis while others are more rare and daring. Some of our favs: Perfect Storm an oatmeal stout, Pow Town a porter, Shiny Penny a Belgian IPA and if you're lucky to be here for it, Lil’ Red 3.0 Wile Ale Blend.
