There is a reason why there is always a big crowd at this Taqueria. The food is excellent, cheap and the place is especially well-kept and clean. This is where the local surfers fuel up

Credit cards and large bills

Only a few of the high-end stores in town accept credit cards. 500 peso bills usually cause consternation for the smaller stores and vendors on the beach. They will usually have to run around somewhere to find change.

You don’t need a car

Sayulita is only about a mile and a half in diameter so it is very easy to walk around it. Street parking is at a premium and can be expensive in the downtown core. You don’t really need a car unless you plan to visit other nearby towns and even then it’s probably better to take a taxi. Some people rent golf cars but they are pricey.

ATMs & Banks

There is only one bank in town but it is a nice one (it’s called Intercam). The waiting times are reasonable and there are English speakers on duty. The only trouble is it is on the far side of town before the bus station. The ATMs are much more convenient and are spread all over town but beware that the transaction fees vary widely. There are two near the square close to the Vogue hotel that are reasonable. One dispenses US dollars and the other pesos. Another reasonable one is at the Oxxo store

Getting to Sayulita from Puerto Vallarta

There are basically four choices to get to Sayulita from the airport: 1. take a taxi from the airport (most expensive), 2. take a taxi/Uber across the overpass from the airport (usually less expensive because they do not pay airport fees), 3. take a bus from the same place as number two above (This takes longer but can be a real adventure and is super cheap. The bus arrives at the terminal near downtown Sayulita). 4. Finally you can rent a car. You might want to do that if you were visiting other towns nearby but keep in mind it will be useless within Sayulita because of the of congestion

Friday market

The Friday market is an excellent place to get unusual greens, wonderful homemade foods, listen to some music and hobnob with the locals. It is located near the bridge on the north end of Revolution and runs from mid-November until mid-May

Swimming

The south end of the main beach is crowded with surfers and it’s not ideal for swimming. At times the north end of the beach on the other side of the river has a dangerous undertow so watch out for warning flags. A good choice for swimming is Playa los Muertos which is at the south end past where the fishing boats are and past Villa Amor. Walk through the cemetery and down to a secluded little beach with both sun and shade.
