Ecuadorians are very polite and will often say "Buenos dias" (good morning) or "Buenas tardes" (good afternoon) when meeting each other or even entering any type of establishment
They will also say "Buen provecho" (enjoy your meal) when entering a restaurant and passing people having their meal. This isn't considered interrupting and can be said entering or leaving the restaurant

In Ecuador you can generally haggle or negotiate a price with street vendors. For example you want a toy and it costs $4 you can ask for $3 and they may agree to make the sale
Try and visit locally owned restaurants as they are much cheaper than international ones such as McDonalds or Burger King. a typical lunch at a local restaurant is $3-4
