This is a must do, and you need to book in advance as they get booked up very quickly, especially when it's dry outside. Good for beginners as they have tasters with the older, slower horses and for more experienced riders they have faster horses, as they have trails you can do. No jeans and no trainers allowed. Helmets are provided.

Lovely Egyptian section with a real mummy. The history of Bolton section is also interesting. The aquarium is small so only need about 15mins to see all the fish. Both the museum & aquarium are in the library, so if you plan your visit with children they can enjoy a story telling session and sometimes get to play dress and dance, depending on what's on.

You can make this a long or short walk if you want so it can be tailored to suit any length of time you'd like to spend outdoors, and you get a great view from the Pike.
This can be seen right next to Go Ape, or if you just want to go for a very short walk it's about 10mins off the main road. Would recommend to combine this with a mother day activity as once you've seen it, you've seen it.

City/town information
Horwich is a cute town with lots of green spaces to go for scenic walks. It's safe to have a wander around and let the kids play in the park which is a short 10mins walk from the house. There is a big shopping centre called Middlebrook retail with a Vue cinema, hollywood bowling and lots of chain restaurants.

It's easier to drive to get to the sightseeing areas.
After a long walk you may not have the energy to cycle back, as there are a few hills on the route back to the house. If you drive you can also bring your bike! The nearest park is walking distance.

If you would like to work out during your time you can join Horwich Leisure centre which offers free gym membership for 1 week or if your trip is shorter you can get 3 free days at the Bolton Arena Gym.
