This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Highly recommend the fish tacos and duck fat fries! The panoramic water view on St. George Island is worth the trip as well. Only 8 mins away.

Chiefs is a fantastic seafood restaurant in the neighborhood (with non-seafood options as well). There are no views to speak of, but it's where you'll find all the locals. Jenny's recommendation: Blackened Senior Chief Scallops with Collard Greens. Kids recommendation: Pizza. Dave's recommendation: Stuffed Ham Egg Rolls (yes this is a real thing), Chicken Cheesesteak or Seafood Platter. Kyle is the bartender and quite a character! Tell him we sent you!

If you love antiquing and custom-built furniture this stop is a MUST! Our dear friend, Rob Seltzer, is the master carpenter. He has a deep appreciation for the farmers, watermen, and laborers of Southern Maryland. Combining reclaimed lumber with old tools and locally sourced wood, Rob creates imaginative homages to those hard workers. Directly across the street is Cecil's Country Store that carries a beautiful selection of vintage and antique furniture, hand-poured soy candles, custom jewelry, stamping/scrapbooking supplies & classes, artwork by local artists & crafters, Amish baked goods, honey and a large collection of Maryland-themed products.

This park's peaceful surroundings on a peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. There are beaches and a picnic area. If you love history, it is the location of a camp which imprisoned as many as 52,264 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. A museum on site recounts this vivid history. A park map is available at park headquarters, the camp office, camp store and the Civil War Museum/Marshland Nature Center. The Point Lookout Lighthouse is currently closed for renovations. Located 30 mins from Pine Needle Nest, but a nice scenic drive.

This little island is only 5-6 mins from Pine Needle Nest. It is where Jenny's family had a little river house when she was growing up. It was the site of a battle in the American Revolutionary War where British forces under the command of John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore attempted to land on the mainland in Maryland. It's a nice scenic drive to the end of the island and back and great for biking.
