Food scene

As a foodies who travels for cuisine, I would say this is a great places in town for lunch or dinner. Added bonus of being one of the hipper joints with decent music for a small town.

My favorite thing is the selection of beers. Step away from what’s popular and taste the tried and true Bavarian gems like their best Ayinger brew or the Primus, better yet ask the bartender for a recommendation.

Coffee and vibes

This is cool little spot and great for people watching! I believe it is the only 3rd wave coffee house and they use Onyx beans which have won quite a few awards.

MTB

Very well marked trail system with multiple hubs atop the ridges that also have maps to guide you to plenty of runs. This trail has flow trails, gnar lines, chunk and old school XC but if you prefer the mainly XC then connect over to the Cedar Glade side for great year round riding through the pine laden bliss.
So many options on this extremely well marked trail. Chunk, flow, lips, from session if to XC it has it all! 4 miles away so ride there or load up the vehicle with snacks and water for a longer day out. You can connect over to Cedar Glades where it’s a bit more hand cut and XC as well. About 35-40 miles in total.

The acts here are somewhat more on the campy side but this is yet another venue with some magnificent history, including the fact that it has survived multiple bombings from rival monsters back in the 60s. Shit down for a bit but recently re opened. Owner Madden’s joint, well ok, Dane Harris heck read the book named after this place - The Vapors. A great piece on the history of gambling in Hot Springs.

Sightseeing

Verna Cook Garvan donated the 210-acre Garvan Woodland Gardens to the University of Arkansas School of Architecture in 1985. Located on 4.5 miles of wooded shoreline along Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs, the gardens feature more than 128 species of ornamental and native shrubs and wild flowers, 160 different types of azaleas, a 4-acre Asian garden with a 12-foot waterfall, three unique bridges, the Perry Wildflower Overlook, and the sandstone and redwood Garvan Pavilion, designed by Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings. Anthony Chapel, designed by Jennings and David McKee, is a popular wedding venue. The Evans Children’s Adventure Gardens offers 1.5 acres of interactive fun with a waterfall and cave, an iron bridge that resembles woven tree branches and rocks weighing more than 3,200 tons. The annual Holiday Lights display – featuring 5 million lights over 18 acres – draws thousands of visitors each winter. For more information on the Gardens, including maps and directions to the site, visit their site.

Maybe it's on your way to or from the airbnb, or maybe you just want to see some of the best paved roads in our area. If that piques your interest then here are some options. Head to Mena to get on and have lunch at the Queen Wilhemena Lodge and proceed down the drive for an out and back. If you are looking for a shorter trip then head north at 259, East on 59, Sounth on 71 at Acorn to get you back on 88. Medium long option you could take 259 South all the way to the CJ's corner (after Octavia) and head East on Zafra road back toward Hatfield [mild gravel stretches]! OR the longgg way is to take the Scenic Drive all the way into Talihina for a bite at Pam's or drink Legend's and then head south on 271 to the Indian Hwy that takes you to Honobia(home of Bigfoort). From there head East on 144 to 259. Go south one street to Zarfra Road [mild gravel!]and head east to Hatfeild and then home.
