Crown Point State Historic Site is the site of a former military stronghold at the south end of the wider part of Lake Champlain. 1737, long before the Revolution, the British and the French both claimed Crown Point in the struggle for a North American empire and used it as a base for raids on British settlements in New York and New England. The location is in Essex County, the site is on a peninsula in the town of Crown Point, New York.
