Our Favourite Cafes and Restaurants

These are definitely the go-to places for coffee and to eat for our family. Our young adults are 'coffee snobs' so you can expect some excellent coffee at these places.
Elaia has a great vibe, with both indoor and outdoor tables, and fabulous food.

Parks & Nature

Lots of options for walking, running or swimming, this area is a favourite of the locals and must-see for tourists. The unique landscape is particularly stunning if recent rains have caused the river to flood, when the tranquil scene yields to thundering white water. There is a new playground for kids with some very creative play equipment including a water pump and big hamster wheel!

This restaurant is situated overlooking a lake, with a camping area on the other side. Grab some of their punnets of fresh berries to take home, or some feed for the animals which the kids love to feed and pat- sheep, alpacas, miniature horses (or are they Shetlands?). Our favourite menu item is the scones with jam and cream.

Neighbourhoods

This historic town is only minutes south of the airport and is a real charmer. There is a market on Sunday mornings, a fabulous bakery (Ingleside- look for it on facebook) with decadent treats and a stunning rose garden/courtyard to eat in. Stroll along the town centre for a feeling of yesteryear.
