Sightseeing

The Abbey's church is an excellent example of Cestercian architecture, a really well conserved abbey, directly on the lakefront of a hill, isolated from the villages around. Monks still leave and work here, selling the homemade products of the vineyard. In fact visitors can buy in the Abbey's shop good wine, liqueurs, honey and other produce made in the monastery. The route to the Abbey is very picturesque and the views to Lake Como spectacular. Check out guided tours once away departing from Colico.

The Sentiero del Viandante (Wanderer’s Trail) is an old mule track dating back to Roman times. It runs along the eastern shore of Lake Como and going through small clusters of houses, old mills, castles, churches and chapels it maintains at an average height, among woods and terraces cultivated with vineyards and olive trees. The ancient trail, once connecting the numerous villages on the eastern shore of the lake from Abbadia Lariana to Colico, is popular in all seasons among hiking lovers. It can be walked in stages, following the orange signposts, in a beautiful landscape alternating views of the lake and the mountains and offering surprises at the remains of ancient human presence: a small village, a little church, a washhouse or an ancient hamlet. Between one stage and the next, it’s possible to go down to the village.
