The Museum of Solomos, Kalvos and other Eminent Personalities of Zakynthos: The Museum of Dionysios Solomos, Andreas Kalvos and other Eminent Personalities of Zakynthos are housed in a Neoclassical building at the square of Saint Mark, Zakynthos Town. On the ground floor of the museum is the mausoleum and hosts the bones of the National Greek Poet, Dionysios Solomos since 1968, as well as the bones of poet Andreas Kalvos and his wife. In the other rooms of the museum display paintings of eminent personalities of Zakynthos, an island with rich culture, personal items, manuscripts, etc. Visitors can also see the statue of Dionysios Solomos made by the known sculptor Georgios Vroutos in 1902. The rooms of the museum are dedicated to famous scholars from Zakynthos and benefactors.

In Solomos Square you will see the Statue of Liberty at the entrance to the square and the Statue of Solomos standing tall in the centre. D. Solomos was a famous Greek poet and a key figure in the Greek War of Independence against the Turks. His most famous poem, Hymn to Liberty, is today the Greek National Anthem. Solomos Square really comes alive at night and is one of the focal points in Zante Town. During the warm summer evenings the square is filled with locals and foreigners, as well as children playing, giving this square a really charming Greek Island atmosphere.

Solomos Square is located in The heart of the town! Bars, Restaurants and Museums are located there! You may also find Alexandrou Roma Street a pedestrian road for shopping!
