Bed & breakfasts in Kyoto

Soi’s Guesthouse is a super place to stay when you’re in Kyoto! All the hosts were super helpful, giving us recommendation and even helped us out with an office for one in our company. The street is also really peaceful and quiet, but still very close to the old town. Would definitely come back!

Chieri en haar moeder en hun schattige hond zijn hele lieve hosts die er alles aan doen om je verblijf een echte authentieke Japanse ervaring te laten zijn. Hun huis is prachtig ingericht, ruim en voelt heel fijn en gastvrij. Het café en de biertuin van Chieri zijn ook zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Het eten en drinken en het gratis Japanse ontbijt waren heerlijk. En als je nog authentieke Japanse souvenirs zoekt zijn die hier ook te vinden. Al met al een perfecte plek om even tot rust te komen na het bezoeken van de drukke steden als Kyoto en Osaka.

Très bel hébergement, on s'y sent comme à la maison. Yoko nousi avait même mis des fraises dans le frigos, très gentille attention de sa part. L'arrêt de bus est vraiment très près de la maison et permet de rejoindre le métro ou la gare très rapidement. Un super séjour, tout était parfait!!! Merci Yoko.

I loved my stay in Uji, absolutely fell in love with the town. The apartment's in a very convenient location, at the end of the main street, next to Uji bridge and Byodo-in Omotesando which is lined with shops and restaurants. Depending on which station you come from it's either 5 minutes or 10 minutes by foot. I liked my room (japanese-style, upstairs), it was nice and quiet. The host and his family are a quiet bunch, you barely notice them. They are out a lot but you can always contact them via message, f.e. to request a fresh towel or another blanket or whatever you need. You can use the lobby (= living room/common room) upstairs which has a couch and a fridge till around 11pm. My only complaint is that the downstairs shower had a bit of a mold problem (but there's an upstairs shower too). Also, they have a dog (you barely see or hear it, but you can smell it in the entrance area), so if you have dog allergy beware of that.

Wir wurden gleich vor dem Haus bei unserer Ankunft erwartet und in Haus und Kyoto eingeführt. Man darf von der Unterkunft natürlich keinen Luxus erwarten, aber es hat sein Versprechen, ein traditionelles japanisches Haus zu sein, voll erfüllt, so dass wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Das Teilen des Bades mit den Besitzern war nie ein Problem, es stand uns immer zur Verfügung. Das Zimmer selbst ist sehr geräumig und ruhig. Die Gegend war Spitze, mit dem Bahnhof Katsura ist man schnell im Zentrum Kyotos und meidet dabei sogar den unübersichtlichen Hauptbahnhof in Kyoto. In der Bahnhofstrasse West (nenne es mal so) gab es ein Café, dass wir ab sieben Uhr zum Frühstücken besuchten (Oak Food). Östlich von Katsura Station gibt es eine Reihe von traditionellen Lokalen, von denen wir das 焼肉 おもに besucht haben. Hervorragendes, auf feinster Holzkohle am Tisch gegrilltes Fleisch (glaube, es heisst Yakiniku) in einem einfachen Gasthaus. Achtung, durch das Grillen ist das Lokal stark verraucht.

Staying at John’s place in Shiga was an unforgettable experience! John is an incredibly passionate and energetic host, always full of enthusiasm. He and his lovely wife, Rika, made me feel right at home. They even invited me to join their family for a delicious homemade dinner, and Rika kindly provided breakfast as well. Their son, Andre, was also very friendly, and I truly enjoyed our conversations. The house itself is a charming countryside cottage surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect getaway. If you’re visiting Shiga, staying with John is an absolute must! Highly recommended!

Can’t rate Ikuko & Michaels place highly enough! They were so helpful providing directions to get there and Michael even picked us up from the bus stop. Ikuko’s breakfasts were elite and they were both so lovely to chat to. The house is great and the surrounding area beautiful. Would return in a heartbeat!

I had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb in Kyoto! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help out with any questions or needs. The location is great – it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest station and equally close to popular spots like Sanjo and Nishiki Market, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights of my stay was definitely the breakfast. It wasn’t just a standard continental breakfast – each morning, they prepared a full, delicious spread for every guest, which was such a treat to start the day. You could really feel the care and effort they put into making everyone feel at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The only minor issue was the washer and dryer, which are a bit dated. The dryer took a while to dry a half load, so I’d recommend doing smaller loads or planning laundry for when you have some time to hang out. Overall, I loved my stay here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting!

This guest house is will be the best choice. The host tommy is very kind and mindful. He speaks english very well, so someone who didn't speak japanese will be satified. Also, the domitory bed was very nice. It's cozy and comfotable. And Tommy will give you breakfast If you request. The toast was tasty. I recommend this guest house, you will not regret your choice. Hotel in una zona molto ben collegata di kyoto, con la metro a 10 minuti e le principali vie di shopping a 10 minuti a piedi. Le colazioni sono state buonissime e lo staff è stato sempre a disposizione.

很惊喜的入住体验，房东十分友善，尽管语不会说中文，但我们还是借助英语和翻译器聊了很多，关于日本的文化、我们的小猫，是一次非常开心的体验。 早上房东还为我们准备了精致的日式早餐，让我们有了一个非常美好的早晨。 房间很干净整洁，浓浓的日式风味，开门的那一瞬间很惊喜！房间内还有供房客书写旅游感受的笔记本，在上面可以看到来自全世界的房客的回忆，十分珍贵！ 谢谢京都，谢谢庵主！期待下次再会。

初めてのエアビー利用でした。どんな感じなのか不安と緊張がありましたが、まず駅についてからのキャンピングカーでの送迎でテンション上がりました。ホスト方も気さくな方で安心しました。現地に着くと広い一軒家で落ち着いた空間で、里帰りをした時のような安心感がありました。ドリンクのサービスがあったりお風呂のアメニティーの充実さはホテルを越えていました。2泊したのですが朝食のサービスがあったり、のんびり過ごせて とてもリラックスできました。帰りも雨が降っていたので、駅まで送っていただけたのはすごくありがたかったです。 また大阪に来る際は利用させていただきます。ありがとうございました！
