Welcome to Bramley Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Bramley Cottage is a wonderful country bolthole which sleeps 2+2 guests, in one bedroom (with the + 2 option being a double sofa bed in the living room), with a stylish family bathroom. There is a private garden to the side of the property and guests are encouraged to explore the extensive grounds it sits within, ranging from fields with livestock to manicured lawns and country footpaths. Bramley Cottage is situated in the sleepy Cotswold hamlet of Gretton, a traditional village with a village green, Anglican church and popular country pub, The Royal Oak. This pet friendly inn offers seasonal food and fine views towards the Vale of Evesham and the Malvern Hills, and at the bottom of its garden lies the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, a 28 mile round route for both steam and heritage diesel trains between Broadway and Cheltenham. Just a short drive away is the regency town of Cheltenham which offers a wide range of attractions for all interests, perhaps the most talked about being the Cheltenham Festival, one of the top horse racing events in the UK. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, there are many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep and amazing views can be found along stretches of the nearby Cotswold Way trail and Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds. Gretton is well placed for exploring many lovely villages and tourist attractions in the North Cotswolds including Stanton, Broadway, Snowshill and the Prescott Hill Climb motor racing circuit. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Bath are accessible for day trips. The owners’ grounds cover five acres and guests are welcome to explore the luscious green lawns, woodland footpaths and paddocks at their leisure. Dogs must be kept on a lead when in the paddocks as sheep and chickens graze here. To the far left of Orchard Lodge lies a well-maintained communal garden with a wooden table and chairs, a parasol and three sun loungers which guests are welcome to use. There is also a summer house with two large sofas and a cosy wood burning stove which is shared with B&B guests from Orchard Lodge. Off-street parking for two cars is available at the front of the property.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Verbazingwekkende eigenschap net zoals beschreven.

Set above the River Isbourne, Winchcombe is arguably the hidden jewel in the Cotswolds crown. The town became prosperous from its Abbey (one of the largest Benedictine monasteries in England), its wool trade and as a producer of tobacco. Although the Abbey has gone there is still much to see of historic Winchcombe and the wealth of the town is reflected in many of the buildings, as well as in the surrounding countryside. No visit to Winchcombe would be complete without seeing four of the most prestigious historical sites in the area. Sudeley Castle (home of Queen Katherine Parr up to her death in 1548), Hailes Abbey (a Cistercian House founded in 1246 and owned by English Heritage), Stanway House (a Jacobean manor house with a world-famous fountain) and Belas Knap (a Neolithic long barrow dating from approximately 3800 BC) all offer a fascinating insight into the life of our ancestors. Known as the walking capital of the Cotswolds, Winchcombe sits at the intersection of the Cotswold Way, the Gloucestershire Way, the Wardens Way, the Windrush Way and the new Winchcombe Way. Alternatively, the GWR Steam Railway provides a fantastic fun day out for the family, running from Toddington through Winchcombe to Cheltenham Racecourse. Winchcombe has a mouthwatering selection of top quality restaurants, a wine bar, pubs, tea shops and a contemporary delicatessen/coffee shop. So whether you want a quick snack or a leisurely meal you'll be spoilt for choice. With a vibrant Music & Arts Festival in May/June, a Country Show in August and a Christmas Festival in December, Winchcombe also has a busy cultural calendar. Food & Drink Winchcombe is fortunate to be blessed with a variety of places to eat and drink, with the following being just a selection of the options available: Restaurant 5 North Street (www.5northstreetrestaurant.co.uk): A small family run Michelin starred restaurant. The cooking at North Street brings together the elements of traditional British cooking with the more sophisticated ingredients and techniques of classic French cuisine; Wesley House (www.wesleyhouse.co.uk): Set in a 15th century Merchant's House, Wesley House's restaurant has been awarded an AA two star rosette and has developed a reputation for excellent food, elegant surroundings and exemplary service. The vibrant Wine Bar & Grill offers a lively atmosphere, with an extensive cellar and delicious dishes in a relaxed setting; Wine and Sausage at The White Hart Inn (http://wineandsausage.whitehartwinchcombe.co.uk): The White Hart Inn is a charming 16th Century inn, with the Wine & Sausage Restaurant at its heart. ** I always clean the shepherd hut with antibacterial solutions anyway, but in the current situation with Covid-19, I am also now leaving the shepherd hut empty for at least 72 hours between bookings, allowing for a period of time to deep clean and to reduce any spread of the infection. I hope these are words of reassurance. Kind regards ** Our lovely self-contained Shepherd Hut is fully equipped with a comfortable double bed which easily converts into a relaxing seating area with TV and optional dining table. An oil-filled wall mounted radiator warms the Hut and keeps it cosy all year round.

Bedankt Martin

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches".

Broadway is a beautiful village in the North Cotswolds, steeped in history and surrounded by stunning countryside. The village gets its name from the wide street, or broad way, that runs through the centre which was once the main road from Worcester to London. This attractive High Street is bordered with chestnut trees and honey coloured stone cottages dating from the 16th century and is one of the most picturesque villages of the Cotswolds. The broad way is thought to be especially wide because at one time there used to be streams running each side of the main drive. These streams were eventually hidden in underground pipes where they would emerge at 'dipping' points, but sadly they are now almost completely invisible. The village has artistic links with famous dwellers including J.M. Barrie, Mary Anderson and William Morris, who were drawn to the tranquillity of Broadway. It was here that Morris and John Ruskin pioneered the idea of the Arts and Crafts Movement which made its home in the area and went on to be an international movement. One of the iconic features of the village is Broadway Tower which was built in the late 18th century by the Earl of Coventry. It is said that the tower was erected so that the Countess could see if her Cotswold estate was visible from Croome Court in Worcestershire, which it was. The folly stands some 1,024 feet above sea level, making it the second highest point in the Cotswolds after Cleeve Hill. In fact, on a clear day, visitors are able to see 14 counties from the top! William Morris was so taken by the tower that he went on to establish the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in 1877. Food & Drink Broadway has a number of places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. The list below is a sample of the options available: Russell's (www.russellsofbroadway.co.uk): Head Chef, Neil Clarke, serves modern British food in the award-winning restaurant, with local Vale of Evesham and Cotswold produce featuring throughout the daily-changing menus. The modern, airy dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with friendly staff and laid-back service combining to create a relaxed and warm setting, day and night; The Lygon Arms (http://www.thehotelcollection.co.uk/hotels/the-lygon-arms-hotel-cotswolds/): A 17th century minstrel's gallery, a grand open fire and an imposing barrel-vaulted ceiling greet you as you enter The Great Hall, the main dining room of the famous Lygon Arms Hotel. A destination in its own right, people travel miles to enjoy the restaurant's 2 AA Rosettes for excellence sumptuous cuisine and warm friendly service of the highest quality. A few steps across the courtyard, Lukes Bistro offers a relaxing atmosphere serving traditional English cuisine with a contemporary twist, equally as imaginative and as fresh, using ingredients that are grown and reared locally, including a wide range of herbs and plums from the hotel's own orchards; The Potting Shed (www.dormyhouse.co.uk/potting-shed-restaurant): The Potting Shed is everything a Cotswold country dining pub should be. It's relaxed and inviting, with a large leather-and-oak bar and a rustic agenda. This is English pub grub as it ought to be: sticky ribs, great bangers, slow-cooked pork belly and fish that's been caught on our shores. Dress up and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail, or dress down and bring the kids.

The Bothy is a conversion of a 17th Century Cotswold stone stable and a 20th Century kennel building. On the ground floor is the living room with a beautiful wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable double bedroom and a modern shower room. Whilst upstairs, which is accessed from a narrow oak staircase, you can find the twin bedroom. The living room has been fitted to retain all its original features and is furnished in period style. I have included many Georgian and Victorian pieces and have also included a large settee and two arm chairs, dining table and chairs for 4, corner cupboard and a dash of the 21st Century with a Sky television. The Bothy is beautifully situated in the Postlip Coombe on the leeward side of the Cotswolds highest hill and yet only minutes from Winchcombe, a classic Cotswold "wool" town, renowned for its excellent shops, restaurants and architecture.
We zullen snel terugkomen.

We zouden zeker terugkomen!

    Janette2017-10-24T00:00:00Z

  • Pat is zo'n geweldige vrolijke gastheer!

We zouden graag weer blijven.

We voelden ons daar zeer comfortabel.

    Pete2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

The well known market town of Stow-on-the-Wold and the beautiful village of Bourton-on-the-Water are both within six miles, with their wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants. Naunton is also ideally located for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and beyond, including famous places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Dove Cottage’s front door opens into the living room. The open plan downstairs contains the following rooms: Living room: Full of character, this room contains exposed beams and a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a two seater sofa, two armchairs, and a Smart TV with a Blu-ray/DVD/CD player; Kitchen/dining room: Accessed directly from the living room, this well presented room contains a double electric oven, four ring ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, small freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is also a stylish glass dining table, which comfortably seats four. Stairs lead up from the living room to the small first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with attractive rural views, which contains a double bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, heated towel rail, wash basin and toilet. There is also a washing machine in the bathroom; A door on the first floor landing leads to a second, steep stairway to the second floor bedroom: Bedroom 2: A lovely eaves room, which can be set up as either two single beds or a king size bed. Directly outside the front of the cottage is a lovely, peaceful patio area, which contains a table, four chairs and a charcoal barbecue. There is also a small garden, together with a gravelled parking area, with space for one average sized car.
  • Ons verblijf in Dove cottage was geweldig.

    Pete2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
Bedden super comfortabel. Keuken was nuttig uitgerust.

  • Echt speciale prachtige plek!

Heel erg bedankt, we zullen terugkomen!

    Christine2019-07-07T00:00:00Z

It's a sunny and light room with large windows so is warm year round. The room is accessible via a staircase with a hand rail. Please note that, like in many old Cotswold homes, the bathroom is downstairs. The stairs are shallow and easy to manage with a handrail running right from the bottom to the top. The stairs are well-lit throughout the day and night to make night navigation simple and safe. We have a travel cot suitable for newborns up to toddlers around 2 years of age. We also have a pram that you can borrow; it is suitable for babies from when they can sit upright alone. We tend to remove our shoes - in muddy weather at least - so either bring your slippers or use the ones we provide to stay cosy.
There is plenty to do within walking distance. We have some great pubs and an award-winning restaurant less than a 5 minute walk away. There are also some nice cafes and boutique shops in the town. You can also take a short easy walk to Sudeley Castle where you can look around the house and grounds and there is a large play area for children. Walkers will be spoilt for choice, with the Cotswolds Way, the Winchcombe Way and other footpaths just moments away.

The Notgrove Estate is a 1500 acre family run working farm owned by Harry and Diana Acland. Set high up in the Cotswold Hills it has 400 acres of grassland in deep valleys and 100 acres of woodland and rolling arable fields. The farm has a mix of sheep, cattle and arable and has diversified with two horse livery yards and a holiday cottage business. In the last few years Harry and Diana have put in new foot and bridle paths and entered into a wildlife conservation scheme planting 200 acres of special plots planted with wild bird mixes, corn bunting mixes, pollen and nectar mixes for bees and beetle banks that promotes the preservation of our natural wild birds. The scenery changes with each season as does the pattern of farming; we have an abundance of lambs and calves in spring, harvest in summer, colourful autumn leaves and dramatic winters, often with snow.

Your holiday home away from home and the perfect base to explore the area or just enjoy being part of the Cotswolds :) Full of character and charm, Honey Cottage is the perfect Cotswold retreat in the heart of the historical town of Winchcombe. Full of character such as exposed beams and stone walls throughout. There is also a lovely large, enclosed, private garden with views to the picturesque church. Both the kitchen and the double bedroom have views over the garden.
Honey Cottage is located on Gloucester Street, which is close to the local shops, restaurants and pubs and one of the oldest streets in Winchcombe. Winchcombe is an historic Cotswold town full of charm, tradition and even a castle! Situated on the Winchcombe Way there is lots of walking for those who love the outdoors. There is a tiled boot room with a boot sink by the back door – the perfect place for washing off muddy wellies. The cottage is full of period charm and features such as original beams, Cotswold stone walls (which have been lovingly restored by hand) and mullion windows to name but a few! The layout of the cottage is as follows: * Ground Floor * On the ground floor there is the sitting/dining room as you enter the property, which has a dining table to comfortably seat 4 guests – with a cute inbuilt windowseat which is a lovely place to watch the world go by. The kitchen was newly fitted in November 2017 and has built in washing machine and dishwasher, plus an electric cooker and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. We also provide tea towels, oven gloves and utensils that you should need to cook for yourself. The kitchen leads into the boot room which has the backdoor into the garden, and through the boot room leads to the downstairs bathroom which is very modern and cleanly fitted with a bath and overhead shower. To the rear of the property is the large, enclosed garden, which is great for kids and dogs to explore, as well as a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine. *1st Floor * Upstairs, the traditional features continue with lots of exposed beams. The master bedroom has a very comfy Super King bed, plus a dressing table and traditional mullion window and fireplace. (Airbnb only has option for King not Super King, but the bed in the master bedroom is a Super King!) The second bedroom has a lovely view over the garden and has a double bed (was previously twin beds until November 2019)
Winchcombe is a delightful area, full of history and charm with wonderful buildings and surrounded by lovely rolling hills. Honey Cottage is a great base to explore the local walks and area, or a cosy bolthole to enjoy a quiet weekend in the Cotswolds

Despite huge demand, we have decided that out of respect for our neighbours and the village that we will no longer take bookings for stays to take place over the next few weeks. We will update this listing as and when things change, but for now our family wish you and your families all the best in the coming weeks. J, J, I, F & A
Recently selected by and featured in Suitcase Magazine (The Culture of Travel) as one of 'The 14 Coolest Cabins in the UK & Ireland',this former Blacksmith's building was transformed by Francis Philips Architects into a great escape, with the addition of a suspended walkway & a timber frame extension clad in charred Siberian Larch. The well equipped kitchen is the hub of our house, with a big table, concrete floor and full height windows and doors leading to a small private garden. The sitting room has a wood burning stove and double height ceiling; the suspended walkway above it links the two upstairs bedrooms - the main bedroom with a high pitch ceiling, adjacent dressing space & bathroom and the kids/twin bedroom which is in the eaves. The third bedroom is downstairs and has its own adjacent shower room.
Located in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Gretton is a lovely village located in the heart of the Cotswolds. Gretton is a sweet village with no shops but a great local pub! We are a couple of miles from the market town of Winchcombe, home to Sudeley Castle and some truly wonderful restaurants, we are also just 9 miles from beautiful Cheltenham. The local walks are stunning and varied. Take the GWR steam train to the races and Cheltenham Festival, watch or partake in the marvellous Prescott Hill Climb, and visit the home of The Bugatti Owners Club. Winchcombe has an award winning Budgens with local produce and COOK products.

(De Winchcombe Way).

Prince Rupert is a dog-friendly* apartment cottage, which sleeps 3 guests across one double and one single bedroom. The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with a living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen downstairs and the two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Prince Rupert is in the converted Old Forge, and an end apartment of three, sharing a decking area with Charles I and George III, with each apartment having its own seating area with views across a lawn to a footpath.
*Dogs: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30 per dog. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog(s) and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction This apartment cottage is named after Prince Rupert of the Rhine, a nephew of King Charles I, who commanded the Royalist cavalry during the English Civil War and made Sudeley his headquarters. Grondig aanbevelen.
