We had an exceptional family holiday here over Christmas. An extended family, with babies and elderly, all enjoyed themselves tremendously. We counted 22 bird species seen from the deck. The views of the Tararuas are great. The house is excellent, fully equipped with all the cooking gear needed. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Richard was a very responsive host and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The cottage is lovely and private, set among mature trees and garden. The kids loved the spa and sleeping up a ladder in the loft. Thanks again for a great stay

absolutely stunning property everything you would imagine a homestead to be, it was really grand inside put also warm and very comfortable. we have two children so it was nice to relax and let them enjoy the space. pool was great we had some fun imagine the summer months to be even better. We (4 couples) had a great stay. It was lovely and roomy, had magnificent views and was surrounded in well-cared-for gardens. The pool was a big attraction - it was clean and private and we loved the garden around it. We thought we were going to do a lot of activities (climb Mitre Peak, visit a winery, go cycling) but in the end, the house, the beach, the pool and the garden were all we needed. It was a really relaxing holiday!!! Thanks Krissy for being so friendly and helpful.

This is a really special spot! We had never driven down this coast before and Mataikona is truly beautiful. Wild beach, incredible rock formations and often felt like we were the only ones there. It felt private and peaceful, just what we needed for a short break away. The Castlepoint Hotel is a great spot to get good food in front of a warm fire and very friendly service. Beautiful view of the beach from the bedroom (which is just a short walk across the road) and nice and cosy. Classic kiwi bach with everything you need for a relaxed break. Hosts very helpful, and plenty of information to make the stay comfortable.

It was exactly what I needed! Peace in the country by the river, among farms, olive groves and vineyards. Vernette left me a thoughtful card and gift for my birthday (why I was getting away!) which made it even better. 💙
