The Wilderness Lake is an area of urban green space close to the centre of Porthcawl. Originally part of an area known as the Wilderness Wetlands, the was developed as part of the Porthcawl storm water flood prevention scheme in 1971. The scenic Wilderness site comprises a large lake, and is surrounded by woodland, grassed areas, children’s play area and skate bowl. Stone and wood sculptures have been erected to provide additional interest for visitors as they explore the park. The site has a range of natural habitats which support a variety of animal and plant life. The lake is a unique and delightful place to relax, enjoy, discover, and explore. It is excellent for coarse fishing for the amateur and match fisherman.
