Caravanserai built in the 17th century. They occasionally host events but you can go inside and take picture even if there's no events. (for free)
Merchants, both French and non-French, used to gather in this large courtyard and trade in silk, cotton, perfumes and spices in the midst of elegant limestone arches over which, nowadays, lively bougainvilleas climb and blossom. On the upper floors, the merchants found rest at night, accompanied by the gurgling of the fountain in the centre of the courtyard.
Known as the “Inn of the Foreigners”, Khan el-Franjs was built by Fakhr el-Dine Maan II during the 17th-century to provide merchants, especially from France, with a space for trading their wares. The ground floor was allocated for the market place for trading whilst the upper floor was the resting area. Nowadays, only the ground floor is open for visitors with free admission.
