The South Downs are a great place to remove the cobwebs. Plenty of walking trails and a nice pub as well.

You can get a bus to the Dyke from Brighton or drive from Falmer and see the fantastic views it offers. There is also a pub at the top of the hill where you can sip a hot drink and watch the paragliders set off from nearby.

Stunning views and a lovely walk, go to the The Shepherd & Dog (see above) for truly sensational pub grub

If you want to get out of town and see a bit of the South Downs, Devil's Dyke is a very easy drive or better still you can take an open top bus from the Seafront (77). Fantastic views and a pretty horrible pub at the top, you can however walk down to the Royal Oak in the village of Poynings that does great food and has a huge beer garden - you can cheat and drive down.

A view over the woods, valleys and hills of the south downs that John Constable described as “the grandest view in the world”.
