Architecture gem. Built in 1829 - 1831. Photo opportunity. Simply a must.

The residence of Princess Ljubica is one of the few preserved buildings from the time of the first reign of Prince Miloš Obrenović. It was intended to be a representative court of the Serbian ruling dynasty Obrenović. However, due to the proximity of the Turks, Prince Miloš stayed there for a short time. Konak achieved its primary purpose during the first reign of Prince Mihailo (1839–1842), when it served as his residence. In the seventies of the 20th century, the administration of the city of Belgrade decided that the Konak building, in accordance with its historical, artistic and monumental heritage, would receive a new purpose and become a museum. After rehabilitation and reconstruction, the building became part of the Museum of the City of Belgrade in 1980.

The way people lived during 19th century can best be seen at Princess Ljubica's residence. The cozy interior of this distinctive building of mixed oriental and western style takes you back in the time when the oriental life of Serbia was starting to be influenced by life in Vienna.

Until 1829, in the place between the building of the Patriarchate and today's konak there was a second (old) courtyard, which was used for housing. Regarding his age and mood, Prince Miloš decided to build another pot. The new conqueror, as it was called at the time of the building, was bigger and more representative than Gospodarsko, because it was necessary to bear witness to the growing economic power and the consolidated power of Miloš Obrenović after obtaining the Hatisherif in 1830. Konak knitinje Ljubice is one of the most representative preserved examples of civil architecture of the first half of the 19th century in Belgrade. It was built in the period from 1829-1830. years.
