Huntington Castle is set on over 160 acres of gardens, woodland and farmland. The Castle of Ireland features a fascinating guided tour which explains its 17th-century history. The tour also features the world famous Temple of Isis located in the old castle dungeons. The Castle of Ireland offers a fabulous woodland playground, as well as a charming tearoom and gift shop. (24 km). There is also a fabulous restaurant Sha-Roe Bistro located in the town of Clonegal, near the Castle. You do need to book in advance but if you are planning ahead, you won't be disappointed. This is a fantastic place to go, definitely worth a trip down to the castle, just a five minute drive from here. The family still live in the castle and guided tours are available. There is also a little gift shop and tearooms. So you can relax out in the courtyard with the hens, the peacocks and the dogs. You can also have a stroll around the gardens and meet the rest of the animals. You'll really enjoy your visit.

Another fantastic ancient castle that's just 20 minutes away in Clonegal. It's possible to take a tour through the old walls of the turret-shaped building and encounter impressive suits of armour, old paintings and a beautiful conservatory. There's also a sizeable garden to take a wander through. The cafè on site in the courtyard is also a lovely place to go for a cup of tea or coffee with a sweet treat on the side.
