Balmoral’s sheltered waters and a picture-perfect outlook of the Manly and Watsons Bay ‘Heads’—the gateway to the Sydney Harbour where the ocean flows in and out—make this contemporary Australian eatery a local favourite. Well, that and excellent prawns, escabeche, and fish of the day. The set menus and degustations aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you’re on a budget, opt for the more moderately priced menu at the cafe next door. Come on a weekday or early on the weekend and enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by a quiet walk on the beach.

This grand Pavilion was completed in 1929 in the classical 'Mediterranean' style. It had 1506 clothing lockers and 239 cubicles where bathers could disrobe in privacy. Now it's a heritage listed site and home to the multi-awarded Bather's Pavilion cafe and restaurant.
