The new museum building is located in Novi Zagreb and made according to the preliminary design by architect Igor Franić. The building extends in a north-south, continuing the direction of the Green Horseshoe. The museum occupies a total area of 14,500 square meters, of which the exhibition spaces provided 4,800 square meters. Its north side, overlooking the city park around Bundek Lake, is intended for open-air exhibitions. A breakdown of the geometric volume with its five floors, adjustable sections whose form is reminiscent of a meander, is expected to become a recognizable emblem of the city. The ground floor is entirely dedicated to various facilities for visitors - from the Museum shop, children's workshops, a library with a reading room, a smaller exhibition space, restaurant and multimedia halls. On the upper floors of the museum whose construction is reminiscent of a meander, there are showrooms. Varied as they are enabling increasing, reducing and interweaving the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions space, and provide a variety of opportunities for exposure and presentation of the most demanding exhibition projects. The first permanent exhibition called "Collection in Motion". In the basement are rooms for the reception of art, audio-visual studio, auxiliary spaces for technical services and restoration workshops. "
