Great spot for folk who understand the magic that is Pahoa town - do bring earplugs as the neighboring 7-11 store has some exciting moments. I loved the interior and it was so convenient for everything around the area.

Mele gave good instructions on how to find the location. It is easiest to find for the first time during daylight. The upstairs unit was very clean and stocked with the items that we needed during the time that we were there. When there are guests in the downstairs unit, you will be able to hear them. It was easy to fall asleep especially with the multiple air conditioners to help cover the sounds of the wildlife if wanted. Note that it is on a catchment system for water so bring your own drinking water. For tourism, keep an eye on the tilt meter for the volcano (about 45 minutes). It was a relatively short drive to Hilo and we were able to effectively explore the southern and eastern side of the island with daytrips. We would stay here again.

Had a fantastic time here. Perfect spot if you like quiet and relaxation. Lots of space and amenities. Close to Hilo and the volcano. Fantastic hosts. Very helpful with lots of tips and info. Very responsive. We're particularly helpful during our arrival day due to a missed connection in Honolulu. Very much appreciated waiting up so late and info sent. Thank you. We will be back.

Steve and Su were great hosts! We loved using the pool and hot tub. The location is nice and private, but a very short drive to downtown Hilo which was very convenient. They provided us with free breakfast every morning which we thoroughly enjoyed. Fresh papayas and bananas that they grow in their backyard, yogurt, bagels, and local jam… so delicious!! There’s a very short walk to a black sand beach where you can watch surfers. I highly recommend booking here for a unique but comfortable stay ☺️🌺

Excellent host. Very responsive and helpful. Very clean. Loved the benefit of the handicapped handle in the shower. It was a great help for my mom. Felt like home.

We enjoyed our stay at Rachel’s place. Her cheerful apartment is in a pretty neighborhood that’s within walking distance of many things to do in Hilo. There was a cool breeze at night. It was a great location for travel to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and local snorkeling beaches.

We had a fantastic stay at Linda’s air bnb. It was super close to Volcano National Park. Very spacious, could easily fit 5 or so people. Had everything you need in the rooms. We did have a little trouble unlocking the front door on arrival, but if you just pull the front door closer to you it will be easier to unlock with the key. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and would stay here again.

Dennis was super nice and super communicative. His place is easily walkable to downtown. It's a great space, nice beds, clean bathroom, kitchen had everything we needed. Windows all had screens so we stayed cool with the great ocean breeze! The only downside is there are roosters in the neighborhood that make a lot of noise early in the morning, which woke us up. But this would also be true of any other place nearby, so I'd still recommend Dennis's place as a great spot in Hilo!

I grew up in this neighborhood, so I am familiar with the rural setting that this BnB is set it. Especially compared to many homes in the area it is very clean and very comfortable. It is minutes from some ocean side cliffs. I even saw some wild pigs during my stay (obviously do not approach them). The host was very responsive and gave me plenty of privacy. The property is also secured behind a gate which is a plus. The bed was very soft, and the WiFi is decent. As mentioned by other reviews the walls are thin, so you do need to be mindful of the noise you make later at night and in the early morning. Washing dishes can be a little bit challenging with the small sink, but it is totally doable. But I would image most people will be eating at one of the many great eateries on the island instead for most of their meals. Overall, if you want an authentic experience on the Big Island, especially Puna, this is a solid option.

One of the best places I have stayed. My Boyfriend said the same. It was absolutely beautiful and comfortable with lovely ocean views and hearing the waves from the bedrooms and entire unit. Brad and Susan were so friendly and welcoming. Brad helped me so much with determining what to do in our short stay with great insights and took lots of time to offer suggestions and knowledge of the Island. There was all we needed for coffee and snacks to tide us over. Everything was so thoughtful and it was obvious the amount of care he put into the property. It is 25-30 minutes to Hilo, but the drive was really not too bad and honestly quite worth it. There were so many things we didn't have time to do, so I plan on returning. Thank you Brad & Susan!

We felt very welcomed and at peace in this beautiful Ohana unit. Melissa & Greg did everything to make our stay feel very private & intimate. Our visit was very easy even without a kitchen -- the coffee/tea makers, mini fridge & microwave were all we really needed. The pool deck was a great place to eat takeout food or eat a simple breakfast. All of the furniture was comfortable and accommodating. The sound of the waves, the gentle breeze and the breathtaking ocean views all created a very magical escape experience. We truly felt we were on a getaway vacation. Thank you Melissa for hauling our 50 lb suitcases up and down the stairs -- we could not have done it without you. One of best experiences ever! Mahalo!!!

Cute little spot! Clean, simple, everything you need. Quick communication and clear labels and instructions for everything. Thank you for having good coffee on hand (there is no local coffee shop as far as we could tell), as well as towels we could use at the nearby black sand beach. As other reviews mention, the bed in the 2nd bedroom is oddly positioned, more like a "daybed." It is strange to sleep across the bed rather than with your head against the wall, but overall I slept well. Also, it's not as private as we hoped: be aware that other guests on the property can see straight in the main doors/windows, and it's true that you can hear everything they say/do as if they are in the same room as you.

Very quite place one block from the ocean. Beautiful drives nearby. Recommend for nature lovers.

The house is a bit of a drive (20 min) from any markets so if you need easy access to food it isn’t for you. But if you like a quiet, secluded place surrounded by green trees, chirping frogs and birds and curious geckos then this is the place for you! We loved our stay. The house is designed so well. And the pool really is always 85F. Like magic.

Le logement chez Rachel était vraiment douillet, confortable (nous nous sentions comme dans un nuage!!! parfait pour se reposer après nos aventures sur l’Ile) et très bien équipé! Nous avions tout ce qu’il fallait pour cuisiner. L’endroit était tranquille et le chant des grenouilles au soir était apaisant. Les chiens et les chats étaient un bel ajout à notre séjour. Ils nous accueillaient à chaque jour et leur présence nous mettait un baume sur le cœur. Rachel fut une hôte très sympathique et aidante lorsque nous avions besoin d’aide. Merci pour tout Rachel!

We could not have been happier with our stay. Felecia and Clyde were responsive and kind hosts, and the unit was spotless. Clean, comfortable, and overall above and beyond our expectations. Our wonderful hosts had a basket of welcome snacks, a yoga mat, foam roller, and yoga blocks (so very appreciated!), great kitchen items, etc. We had everything we needed and more. My partner and I couldn’t stop gushing about how happy we were with this airbnb. You can tell Felecia and Clyde take pride in their home and we were so grateful to stay in their guest unit. Highly recommend!

Eleonor is a very wonderful host! One of the best I’ve ever had! Very prompt with response and helpful! Had the chance to speak to her a few times along with her kids! Accommodation had a kettle which is so good considering that most places do not have! Even allowed us to check in early and store our luggage past our check out time! The goats are a fine addition to our stay! Tatami mat was surprisingly comfortable to sleep on! Looking forward to staying here again!

There is a reason this place has all the perfect reviews! It was extremely clean and super comfortable. It really does get cool at night outside and opening the windows gives a great breeze and the rainforest sounds of frogs outside was relaxing. Now there is a rooster right outside that will wake you up for the first hour of sunrise but it's stated clearly in the listing. Also, it's a short drive to the cliffs to watch the sunrise so I was up anyway. It really felt like a rainforest oasis and it was so cool! Christopher was an incredible host and gave amazing recommendations too! I would totally stay here again!

We had an amazing stay at Holoholo Bunkhouse. The place was very clean and cozy. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and fun trip, including two TVs, a washer and dryer, and beautiful bunk beds, perfect if you're traveling with kids. We have to say that the local activity suggestions, were on point. We really enjoyed Mt. View bakery, just make sure to be there early in the morning! We appreciated the host providing plenty of essentials including trash bags, utensils, paper plates, paper towels, snacks, lots of water etc. You can really tell they put care into making their guests feel at home. There was nothing more energizing that enjoying breakfast outside every morning, with the sound of birds and the water splashing in the pond. My daughter loved feeding the Koi fish every morning and cuddling with the little kitty that came every day to great us. The kitty was gentle and playful and super cute, my daughter really loved her. All in all, we had a blast in the Big Island!

Boyd & Kiana were amazing hosts! They had great clear instructions on how to check in and check out, and were very responsive whenever I reached out. Definitely is a perfect place for 1-2 people to stay comfortably. I would definitely stay here again! :)

The place was cozy, clean, easy to find, in a safe location, and comfortable for two female adults. The bathroom had a large counter space with good water pressure in the shower. The host was responsive and provided helpful information.
